Thank you for your Patience

I can tell by our nifty statcounter software that many of you are faithfully checking back with us for any news or comments to our blog and for that we thank you tremendously.

Jenn has been busy with school and studying hard and putting ALOT of effort into her assignments and learning so much about homeopathic medicine, that she truly deserves a cyber round of applause.

After a calculated job search for something that would strike a better balance for my family and I and settling nicely into a great part time job. A job of a lifetime fell into my lap. After more soul searching and planning and making contacts. I accepted and the ensuing chaos of settling in to a more demanding job has been my life for the past few months, and just when I thought I had it under control in August...school started and that has demanded my attention for the last few weeks.

However, having said that I think things are coming together and I will have more time to devote to this blog and to the QUEST at hand. A Balanced Lifestyle.

Just because I feel like I have more time in no way means I have A Balanced Lifestyle so I look forward to pushing forward with the rest of you on this quest. I need solutions for laundry, cleaning, cooking, writer's block since I blog here, here and here now.

What topics, concerns, issues are you experiencing on your quest?

Moving it....

about a week ago over on A Balanced Lifestyle I talked about walking. How many steps a day do you take?

Why? Because I was working on some weight loss (and did loose some weight) but over the past few weeks, work got hectic, studying, taking the kids to their sports and activities and where did that leave me?? Not taking enough steps in my daily life.

10,000 steps is what we need to take to MAINTAIN our current weight. YIKES

So I decided to dig out my pedometer and just see how much movement I really did! Now this week was a HEAT WAVE here, but I still managed to get out for a daily walk/jog. Just had to get up early or go late!

Monday 11,500 steps (I golfed 9 holes so was easy to get there even though I worked all day)
Tuesday 6,000 steps (managed a small walk and worked all day)
Wednesday 9,000 steps (again all day work but played field hockey)
Thursday 10,000 steps ( study day, but walked, swam, walked)
Friday 12,000 steps ...so far and its 2pm! I managed to go for a jog in the pouring rain!! I've been studying and doing house work.

My point is depending on what you do for a living it is HARD to get the 10,000 min steps in unless you give it some effort.

There is a "law of physical activity" - use it or lose it!

Simple law - yes, but easy - no. How ever no excuses. I know its no fun to walk, I'm tired, I work long hours, its too hot out, raining, cold, its boring, and 1/2 million other excuses. I know because I've used them (and still do sometimes) too!!!

However after tracking my steps this week, which I plan to continue for a few weeks just to see how I do, I realized something .... just do it! Physical activity isn't something we can just ignore. Trust me on this one, just get up off the couch, chair or whatever! If you do that right now and just move 1/2 hour every day in a while you will feel so much better!

Lets put it this way, if you do start moving think about how you will feel even a year from now? Just moving a bit will allow to stay healthier. You will feel more energetic, more flexible, better breathing, more toned and maybe even loose a bit of weight. You cannot go wrong.

So how about it?

Just move!!!

Hello and welcome!

Over the next year you will see a few changes. Don't worry! We still have our a Balanced Lifestyle blog running but both Shannon and I will have a separate blog as well. This way you get to some added benefits to read and learn about!!! We are both in different professionals and wanted to share some of that knowledge with you!

Some of you know I am a Registered Reflexology Practitioner but I am also back in school studying to become a Doctor of Homeopathic Medicine. I am still working while I am in school. I have my own reflexology practice in Elmira and I love what I do. I wanted to share some on reflexology on here over the next bit with you!!!

I also have a facebook page you can join if you would like too!!! I update with neat little facts there all the time! You can access it here!

A little about reflexology....

Reflexology is a method of bringing relaxation, balance and healing to the body by stimulating reflex points on the feet, hands and ears. It is based on the theory that every part of the body is connected through energy pathways that end in the reflex points being stimulated through reflexology. Reflexology encourages the body to achieve it's own natural balance and good health.

Who can benefit from reflexology?

Everyone can benefit from reflexology including children, the elderly, the sick and the healthy. Reflexology is completely non-invasive, pleasurable and relaxing.

What Does Reflexology Do?

Reflexology is used primarily for relaxing tension. Doctors agree that over 75% of our health problems can be linked to nervous stress and tension. Reflexology improves nerve and blood supply, and helps nature to normalize.

If you have any questions about reflexology please do not hestitate to email me at jenn.metzger@sympatico.ca
